The Civil Guard of Yaiza has arrested the suspect of stabbing to death his flatmate in Playa Blanca. The events took place on the afternoon of last Monday, October 12, in a residential development in this coastal town of Yaiza.
The arrest occurred after the suspect was discharged from the hospital at the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Lanzarote, where he had been urgently transferred with stab wounds. The details of the violent death of his flatmate are now in the hands of the Judicial Police of the armed institute.
The events occurred around 4:00 p.m. in the Jardín de Yaiza development. The victim, 30 years old, and the alleged aggressor, 25 years old, had been living together in that property for at least a year. The police hypothesis is that they both started to argue inside the home and got into a fight with knives in the property.
An advanced life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service and another basic life support ambulance were dispatched to the area. In addition to officers from the Local Police and the Civil Guard.
Sources from the residential development have told La Voz that both occupied a home in Playa Blanca, owned by a bank or a vulture fund, where they were allegedly subletting rooms to other people. Usually, according to this testimony, arguments occurred due to disagreements over the collection of rent for the rooms.
For the moment, the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard are still investigating this matter.
