Eight people, including illegal immigrants and some of Lanzarote origin, were located at around one o'clock in the morning this Thursday when six of them arrived in a small boat loaded with more than half a ton of hashish on the coast of Tinajo and two others remained on the beach waiting to unload the drugs.
Of the eight men arrested, five needed medical attention for blunt injuries to their arms and elbows.
Red Cross personnel, who were alerted at 00:52 hours by the Civil Guard, performed the cures for more than two hours at the Costa Teguise Barracks, since despite suffering from hypertension, the immigrants did not need to be evacuated to any medical center.
Throughout the day the investigation remained open because the trip was used to transport drugs more than immigrants. The eight detainees testified to be brought to justice during the day this Friday, since they brought with them a shipment of hashish.
Specifically, the Civil Guard seized more than half a ton of hashish, between 600 and 700 kilos, and arrested all the occupants when they tried to introduce the cargo on the Island. Also, several vehicles have been seized.
Sources from the Armed Institute confirmed that the hashish cargo was distributed in more than twenty bundles that the crew intended to unload on Tenesa beach, in the municipality of Tinajo.
The sources indicated that the operation, for which judicial secrecy has been decreed, began several months ago, and that it remains open, so new arrests are not ruled out. Likewise, official sources confirmed to lavozdelanzarote.com the implication in the network of some Spaniards, without ruling out that residents on the Island are favoring decisive connections in this plot.
This operation has not been the result of chance, since the Civil Guard, after the [discovery of previous zodiacs and pneumatic boats found empty on the coast->https://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=733&var_recherche=zodiac], was waiting for the arrival of this patera and had deployed numerous patrols during some cars, which watched different coasts. Due to the magnitude of the operation, it will remain open for quite some time.
And while some arrive, others leave, or escape. Precisely from these facilities at the Lanzarote airport, another 11 Moroccans escaped last Tuesday, who for the moment remain at large.
Regarding another empty boat found in Fuerteventura this Thursday, the Civil Guard reported that even in the morning its occupants had not been located. This patera was found after a signal was detected in the sea, near the coast of Morro Jable, through the Comprehensive Exterior Surveillance System, explains a note.
