The 53 immigrants from the boat rescued this Monday near Lanzarote have had to spend the night in the facilities of the port of Arrecife, where they remain due to the lack of spaces where they can be transferred. According to the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, there is "no room" either in the Aula de la Naturaleza de Máguez or in a warehouse that was set up in Arrecife.

"There is another warehouse in Playa Honda, but we are waiting for the Ministry to give authorization," Espinosa pointed out. In this regard, he explained that it should be the central government that assumes the costs of conditioning and renting this warehouse, which is privately owned, as immigration is the responsibility of the central government.
Thus, they are waiting for the Ministry to give the green light for the transfer of immigrants to this warehouse or, otherwise, to determine another place to transfer them. "If they give us the go-ahead, we directly enter, disinfect, move to that warehouse and it is being conditioned," said the manager of the Security and Emergency Consortium, who hopes that the central government will give the green light throughout the day and that immigrants do not have to sleep in the port again.

For the moment, the Red Cross has set up two tents in the port of Arrecife, where two chemical toilets have also been installed. According to Enrique Espinosa, they have already been transferred from the Health Department to carry out PCR tests on immigrants.
It should be remembered that among the immigrants there are 40 adult men, three women and ten who claimed to be minors. In the case of the latter, the manager of the Consortium pointed out that they should be transferred to a juvenile center although, for the moment, they are also in the port of Arrecife under the custody of the National Police.
