A boat with seven deceased immigrants has arrived this Monday morning at Playa Bastián (Costa Teguise). The boat contained men of Maghrebi origin, of whom four have been evacuated to the Molina Orosa Hospital, three of them with hypothermia and another with a strong blow to the face, according to the Civil Guard.

It was at 12:10 p.m. when the emergency services received notice of the arrival of the boat, with the two lifeguards from El Jablillo Beach being the first to act. Civil Guard, Local Police, Red Cross, firemen from the Consortium and SUC personnel have also moved to the scene.

As confirmed by the Civil Guard, five of the immigrants arrived already deceased in the boat, while the other two drowned upon arrival. According to the person who alerted of the arrival of the boat, the occupants jumped into the water before touching land.

Two other immigrants were evacuated to the hospital with hypothermia after being assisted on the beach, with the rest being transferred to the Civil Guard barracks. Subsequently, the Civil Guard has reported that two more immigrants had been transferred to the hospital, one also with hypothermia and another with a strong blow to the face.

According to sources, the boat had been lost for several days without its occupants having food, although this fact has not been officially confirmed. In the arrival area of the boat is the Río Órbigo patrol boat of the Civil Guard inspecting the waters.
