A man was seriously injured this Wednesday after an explosion on a boat in Puerto Calero. The events took place around 4:58 p.m. in the port of the municipality of Yaiza, as reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium.
Once alerted by the Local Police of Yaiza, firefighters and a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service went to the scene.
The 40-year-old injured man suffered burns and was assisted at the port by health personnel. Once stabilized, he was transferred in a medicalized ambulance to Molina Orosa.
The firefighters verified that in the engine room of the starboard engine of the catamaran there was a strong smell of gas. Immediately afterwards, with the gas detector, they proceeded to analyze the engine room, in which they found more than 80% concentration of CO2. To avoid the danger of breathing the air of an explosive environment, they ventilated the interior until the values were normal.
