The Sasemar 103 plane was the one that spotted the inflatable boat with the fisherman from Órzola adrift on Tuesday night. They recorded the images in which the man can be seen making signals. Once located, they mobilized the Helimer who rescued him and took him safe and sound to the César Manrique airport.
Apparently, the engine of the 3.5 meter inflatable boat he was traveling in broke down and the wind moved him up to 20 miles north of the island.
His location initially raised fears that it was another migratory tragedy with a single survivor on board, as has already happened several times in that same area; the last one, in September, during Cyclone Hermine. However, the small size of the inflatable boat was striking. In fact, his partner was already warning the authorities about his disappearance.
