Red flag due to strong waves on La Garita beach

On Friday, the General Directorate of Emergencies declared a pre-alert situation due to coastal phenomena in Lanzarote and the entire Canary Islands.

The state of the sea has forced the red flag to be raised this Sunday on La Garita beach, as reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium. The strong waves that will occur throughout the day will affect bathing on Haría beach. 

As La Voz published, on Friday the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands declared a pre-alert situation due to coastal phenomena in Lanzarote and the entire Canary Islands. An alert that has been in effect since Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in the archipelago. 

For the weekend, wind from the North and Northeast was expected, with a force of 5-6 (30-50 kilometers per hour) with areas of force 7 (51-61 kilometers per hour) in the high seas between islands and coasts, west, northwest and southeast of the islands. The forecast points to rough seas to strong rough seas, areas of heavy seas in the high seas between the islands and a swell from the north of one meter. Combined sea waves that could reach and exceed 2 meters.
