The person arrested by the Civil Guard for crimes against moral integrity, coercion, omission of the duty to report crimes and illegal detention in migrant centers of the Red Cross in Lanzarote was dismissed by the NGO "in March", according to the same.

In statements to La Voz, the Red Cross has stated that this person was responsible for the migrant reception centers on the island and that on March 12 she was "fired" after detecting "a series of irregularities in the development of her management."

"They were communicated to Madrid, an internal audit was carried out and based on the results and that mismanagement that was being carried out, an immediate dismissal was made", they have transferred from the press department of the NGO in the province of Las Palmas, from where however they have not specified what were the irregularities that were detected. "That is all collected in a document of the internal audit and it is the department that manages it who knows the information", they said, claiming that it was "from Madrid" from where that internal audit was carried out.

In addition, the Red Cross has said they "do not know the reasons for the arrest" of this person, confirming that the NGO has not denounced her either.

"The issue we had with this person was the dismissal and it is the last contact we have had with this person", they pointed out from the NGO, from where they stated however that they will collaborate with the Civil Guard "with all the information they need."

For its part, the Civil Guard has confirmed the arrest of this person, which took place on July 27. However, no further information has been provided to avoid harming the development of the investigation, which is still open.
