The Civil Guard of the Main Post of San Bartolomé is investigating a 44-year-old person as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of theft and another of fraud by stealing the credit card from one of his clients who was staying in a vacation home and using it on five occasions to make payments totaling 185 euros.
The investigation began as a result of the formalization of a complaint with the Civil Guard of San Bartolomé, in which a tourist who was staying in a vacation home in Playa Honda, reported that they had stolen 100 euros in cash and a credit card from the room of the vacation home where they were staying, and they were able to verify how they were later using it to make different payments in establishments on the island.
The first investigations carried out by the Civil Guard based on the technical-ocular inspection led the members of the Investigation Area to monitor the purchases made by the alleged perpetrator, which had been used, among other places, at a gas station in the tourist area of Puerto del Carmen, in a supermarket in the same town, and to make the payment for the contracted services of the house itself.
Immediately, the appropriate information was collected in different establishments with the study of images and purchase data, resulting in the fact that the alleged perpetrator of the events was the owner of the house where the tourist is staying, proceeding to the investigation of the tenant of the vacation home, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of theft and another of fraud.
On the other hand, the Civil Guard carried out an inspection of the lodging establishment, and it turned out that the rented vacation home was not registered as such and lacked any type of authorization to carry out said activity, so it was also administratively reported.
The proceedings have been made available to the corresponding Arrecife Duty Court and the administrative complaints have been sent to the Island Directorate of Lanzarote and the Cabildo of Lanzarote as they are the competent bodies in the matter.
