One of the detainees this Tuesday after starring in a police chase that ended with a traffic accident on Triana street in Arrecife had been arrested a week earlier after committing a robbery in a house in the capital, as reported by the National Police.

The detainees are 35 and 44 years old and both have "numerous police records." Now they face charges of traffic safety and vehicle theft since, as La Voz published, the car with which they overturned in the heart of Arrecife had been stolen. One of those arrested, according to sources close to the investigation, is a habitual offender known as 'El Guati'.

From the National Police they explain that the events were triggered when a patrol, which was carrying out prevention work in the capital, observed two individuals circulating in a vehicle that had been reported stolen a few hours before. After ordering him to stop, the driver tried to flee driving "at high speed" through several streets of Arrecife, until he finally collided with another car on Triana street and overturned laterally, they indicate from the police force.

The two individuals, who had to leave the vehicle through one of the windows, were arrested as alleged perpetrators of crimes against traffic safety and vehicle theft. The police investigations made it possible to verify that the detainees had modified the license plates of the vehicle in order to try to go unnoticed. Specifically, they had converted a 'G' into an 'O' with the help of adhesive tape and a cutter.

Once the corresponding police report is completed, the detainees will be placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority. The police intervention was carried out by agents of the Local Citizen Security Brigade of the Arrecife Police Station.
