One of the San Juan bonfires burned ahead of time in Arrecife. It was this Sunday, in the Altavista neighborhood, where firefighters had to go to extinguish the flames on a plain between Granada and Virgilio Cabrera streets.
As is traditional every year, the neighbors had begun to bring wood and other materials there, which accumulate in the weeks leading up to San Juan's night to burn them during the festival. The firefighters were alerted around 10:30 p.m. of the fire. Once in the area, it took them just over half an hour to completely extinguish the fire, for which about 4,000 liters of water were needed.
