Officials from the Tahíche Penitentiary Center saved the life of an inmate this Thursday. This was announced by the Acaip union section, which states that the workers prevented the suicide of a prisoner, "by taking him down in time in the cell."

According to the union, at around 10:15 a.m. and "given the commotion" in the cell area, an official from the admissions module went to the cell and, after a visual check, saw an inmate who was "hanging with his own clothes in one of the cells, in a state of unconsciousness."

Acaip highlights the actions of the officials of said module, pointing out that they "quickly" took down the inmate and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, managing to revive him. After that, he states that the center's medical services arrived "continuing there with the maneuvers" until the 112 troops arrived and the prisoner was transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital.

The union affirms that, according to hospital sources consulted, the inmate "is sedated" and "the rapid action of the on-duty officials saved his life."
