The Yaiza Civil Guard, in collaboration with the Local Police of the municipality, has carried out inspections in the nightlife venues located in the Papagayo shopping center, in Playa Blanca, detecting in one of them several breaches of the regulations on prevention and containment measures against Covid-19.
Specifically, on July 11, 18 and 22, it was found that the venue had a higher capacity than allowed, that most customers were not using protective masks and that there was a high number of them consuming standing up outside the tables where they should be. Given this situation, the establishment was evicted on two occasions to properly accommodate the permitted capacity and under the circumstances established in the applicable regulations.
According to the Civil Guard, the detected breaches could constitute a serious infringement of Law 1/2021, of April 29, which establishes the sanctioning regime for non-compliance with the prevention and containment measures against Covid-19 in the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, which could lead to the imposition of a fine of 3,001 to 60,000 euros, as well as the closure of the premises for a maximum period of two months.
The complaints filed have been sent to the General Directorate of Public Health of the Canary Islands Health Service, the body responsible for instructing the files.
