The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium intervened this Wednesday, around 11:59 hours, in the removal of a trammel net located in the vicinity of Charco de Los Clicos, in El Golfo, within the municipality of Yaiza.

According to the information provided by the Consortium, the operation was carried out after the notice received from the Command, after Maritime Inspection alerted to the presence of a trammel net located about 20 meters from the coast, in a rocky bottom area of the South Park.

A unit was dispatched to the location, whose personnel accessed the beach alongside a Maritime Inspection couple, responsible for indicating the exact location of the fishing gear.

Once located, the officers confirmed that the trammel net had a great variety of fish entangled in the meshes. The officers then proceeded to cut and free the net from the rocky bottom with the help of a knife to later tow it to land.

Once on the shore, the officers released the specimens that were still alive, while the deceased fish remained next to the gillnet in a cooler for safekeeping by Maritime Inspection.
