Firefighters had to rescue a woman this Wednesday afternoon who had been trapped under a van in Arrecife. This woman, 71 years old, fell after suffering a fainting spell, remaining "between the undercarriage" of the vehicle and the sidewalk, as explained by the Consortium. After the intervention of the firefighters, she was attended by paramedics from the Canary Emergency Service, who diagnosed her with a shoulder trauma.
The incident took place shortly before 6 p.m. on León y Castillo street in the capital. Upon arriving at the scene, the medical personnel had to request the presence of the firefighters, as the place where she had fallen restricted their mobility and prevented them from attending to her, as explained by the Consortium.
Once there, the firefighters placed "chocks" to prop up and support the car and used hydraulic equipment to lift it and thus be able to help the woman. Subsequently, "with the help of a spinal board" and using a mobilization maneuver known as the 'Dutch bridge', they finally managed to extract her and she could be attended by the paramedics.
