Firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium collaborated this Wednesday with the Arrecife municipal dog pound to collect an "aggressive" dog that was abandoned.
After being alerted by 112 at around 2:40 p.m., the firefighters went to the area of the gardens of the Castle of San José, where the animal was tied up.
Once there, they verified that the dog weighed about 40 kilograms and the councilor of the Arrecife City Council informed them that the dog was "abandoned" and "with an aggressive attitude", not letting anyone approach.
After that, the Consortium's troops approached the dog "without threatening it" and "little by little" they gained the animal's trust, until they were able to get hold of it, "removing the carabiner from where it was tied." Once achieved, the firefighters gave the dog water, waiting for the City Council staff to bring a microchip reader to identify the dog and the owner.
Later, a vehicle from a veterinarian arrived with a carrier, where the dog was introduced to be taken to the shelter.
