The Ministry of Education and Universities of the Government of the Canary Islands has decided to suspend classes this Wednesday in all educational centers of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, due to the weather alert activated in both islands. The decision has already been notified to schools and institutes and affects only these two islands for the moment.

As explained by the Government of the Canary Islands, it has finally decided to suspend classes "according to the latest forecast transmitted by the Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies (CECOES-112)". In the case of Lanzarote, accumulated rainfall of up to 80 liters per square meter is expected in 12 hours and wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

On the other hand, the Ministry reminds that the teaching activity also remains suspended during the night shift in all the centers of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, at the request of the City Council, and in order to reduce traffic on the roads that have been especially affected by the rain that has fallen in the last hours.
