National Police agents, thanks to citizen collaboration, have arrested M.K., a 23-year-old man of Moroccan nationality with 29 police records, mostly for crimes against property, as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery inside a vehicle parked on a street in Arrecife. He forced two of the windows of the parked car, taking objects from inside. A witness provided the physical characteristics of the individual to the agents, thanks to which he could be located and arrested in the vicinity.
The events unfolded after a citizen called the 091 telephone number, who observed how an individual, of whom she provided his physical characteristics, was forcing a vehicle parked on a street in the capital of Lanzarote. The police officers who went to the scene located the individual, who, upon noticing the police presence, tried to evade it, being intercepted a few meters away. In the security pat-down, he was found to be carrying two bags containing various items, a flashlight, a screwdriver, and pliers.
At the same time, another police vehicle, which also responded to the call, was requested by a woman, who told them how moments before she had seen the detained individual forcing a vehicle, a fact that could be corroborated by the agents when finding a car with two of its windows forced and the interior ransacked a few meters away.
Likewise, they found inside a trash can near the vehicle an audio equipment with signs of having been stolen, proceeding to its intervention. Therefore, the police officers proceeded to his arrest, as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery with force.
The officers managed to locate the owner of the vehicle, who recognized the two bags and the flashlight as his own, items that were returned to him. The pertinent steps are continuing in order to determine the origin of the audio equipment found in the trash can.
After preparing the corresponding police report, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
