In just one day, three five boats have arrived on the island. Two of them in the early hours of Tuesday and another three in the early hours of this Wednesday. The first of them was spotted on the high seas by the Civil Guard's detention services at around four in the morning and was towed to Puerto Naos at around six in the morning. On it were traveling 27 people, of Maghreb origin, including five minors. "You have to do the bone test to determine the age, although when practicing this test, 80% of the doubtful minors are not", explains Marcial Martín, insular delegate of the Government.
The next boat reached the coasts of Conejera a few minutes after six in the morning. On this occasion, the boat entered through Playa del Cable and have been arrested, so far, ten people of Maghreb origin. "It is estimated that about 16 people were traveling on it, so the National Police has deployed a search device to find the remaining six", says Marcial Martín, insular delegate of the Government, who also commented that he does not yet know if any minor was traveling on this boat.
The area of Punta Mujeres and Arrieta has been the other location where the last boat arrived at about ten to seven in the morning. So far there are eight detainees, also of Maghreb origin, although the Civil Guard is looking for the other people who were traveling on this boat, "since we believe that there could be about fifteen or 20 people".
In just over 24 hours, about 77 people have been arrested who have tried to reach the island illegally aboard five boats. Now we will proceed to the identification and subsequent transfer to the Fuerteventura Internment Center.
