An English plane coming from Manchester and destined to Lanzarote has landed "urgently" this Monday in the Airport of Guacimeta, one hour later than expected and due to causes that are still unknown.
The flight, with numbering 105 and belonging to the British company My Travel, had planned to land in the Lanzarote aerodrome around 20:05 hours of this Monday but, according to sources of Aena informed in first instance, due to eminently "technical reasons and in absolute relation with the storm that currently lashes the Islands", its arrival has been delayed approximately one hour.
Thus, around 21:01 hours an "emergency" landing was concluded, according to sources close to the airport, after the pilot requested permission from the control tower to enter the runway in an "urgent" manner.
In spite of deploying the pertinent security device for this type of cases -[the last of them happened in Guacimeta about eight days ago->http://www.lavozdelanzarote.com/article.php3?id_article=3542&var_recherche=avi%F3n+Guacimeta]- the plane landed "without any type of problems", and fortunately there were no injuries nor had to regret any damage.
According to what the staff of Aena in Las Palmas explained in last instance, the situation of the flight is of "total normality" in spite of having registered the mentioned delay. However, unofficial sources commented to lavozdelanzarote.com that the pilot was forced to request the emergency landing because in the beginning the permission was denied, inexplicably, from the own control tower.
Deviations from Gran Canaria
Minutes later the staff of Aena in Las Palmas has confirmed that at least a pair of planes are going to be diverted from Gran Canaria to Lanzarote, "due to the strong gusts of wind" that lash the round Island tonight.
About 22:15 and 22:30 hours of this Monday, respectively, it is foreseen that a flight of Air Europa coming from Barcelona, and another of Iberia coming from Madrid land in Guacimeta. Both should have landed about 21:30 hours in the capital of Gran Canaria. From Aena in Las Palmas they do not discard that new deviations could take place in the next hours.
