A 41-year-old woman and her 10-year-old son have been rescued by local residents and firefighters after drifting away from the coast of Playa Blanca on a kayak, on Wednesday afternoon.

Alerted by CECOES at 4:48 p.m., the Security and Emergency Consortium moved to the dock area. Once there, the Civil Guard and Local Police officers informed them that there was a recreational boat near the kayak in question.

The crew members were neighbors from the La Cofradía restaurant who, after realizing the situation, decided to borrow a boat to go and help them, since the sea was also "a bit rough and no one was coming to look for them", points out one of the witnesses.

After the arrival of the firefighters in the area, they approached by jet ski to help the victims onto the boat. Both the woman and the boy, both German tourists, were fine, so the residents of Playa Blanca took them to the dock, while the security forces towed the small boat.
