A fishing boat collided this Wednesday with the outer dike of the Arrecife marina, becoming semi-submerged in the sea, in the back of the port area.

According to initial reports, the crew members have not suffered any damage, but the boat has. The incident occurred before 5:00 p.m. and since then, different personnel have been mobilized to try to rescue the boat.

In addition to Maritime Rescue and agents of the Security and Emergency Consortium, port vessels and Emerlan personnel have come to the area, as well as a private crane, which hours after the incident was still unable to get the boat out of the water.

According to reports from the Consortium, in principle the hull does not present serious damage, so the intention is to refloat it, since it is sunk at the rear, so that it can be transported by its own means to the shipyard.

However, the boat has flooded when tilting after the collision, so the first step has been to bail out the water, in order to lighten the weight. Even so, the falling tide has made it difficult to refloat it, as it has been left in a difficult area of rocks, so the device has been suspended with the intention of resuming it during the early morning, with the rising tide.

"The damage to the hull is not significant and there is no water leak in the area that worries us most, in case diesel could come out," they point out from the Consortium.

According to other sources who witnessed the event, it could have been caused by a lapse on the part of the skipper, who they even suggest may have fallen asleep.
