A collection of signatures is started asking to "reprove" Judge Fiestras and "recognize" the agents of the Civil Guard

The letter responds to the complaint filed by the magistrate against the civil guards. "The easiest thing for these agents would have been to look the other way and not confront a judge, but they fulfilled their duty professionally," he maintains.

"The easiest thing for these agents would have been to look the other way and not confront a judge, but they fulfilled their duty professionally". That is what the promoter of a collection of signatures maintains, which aims for Judge Ricardo Fiestras to be "reprimanded" and that, in addition, "the exemplary work of the civil guards" who raised a proposal for sanctions against him for violating the regulations against Covid "be recognized".

The events occurred on February 18, when the magistrate was identified in a villa in the municipality of Yaiza with about ten people, the island being at health alert level 4. As a result of these events, the judge ended up filing a complaint with the Civil Guard against the agents, for the recording and dissemination of a video during the intervention, which ended up reaching the media.

Now, through the Change.org platform, they are trying to collect signatures to address the General Council of the Judiciary. "We cannot allow this judge to believe that he is above the law," the letter states, signed by Victor Robayna.

Although Fiestras' complaint is not for the intervention itself, but for the dissemination of the recorded images, the text maintains that the agents are being questioned "for doing their job." In addition, he recalls that among the people with whom the magistrate, who is the head of the Court of Instruction Number 4 of Arrecife, was surprised, was "a person convicted in the Unión case." This refers to Fernando Becerra, who was precisely the origin of this cause, when he tried to bribe the then councilor Carlos Espino on behalf of Luis Lleó. Both the businessman and Becerra confessed to the facts and already have a final sentence.
