A 21-year-old man is hospitalized in the ICU after suffering an attack last weekend in Arrecife. The victim had to be transferred to the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in serious condition and his alleged attacker has already been arrested by the National Police.
According to sources close to the investigation, the events took place in the early hours of July 4, around 03:45 hours, on the esplanade of the Arrecife Fairgrounds, where there were several young people doing botellón. At one point, one of them tripped over the victim's girlfriend, spilling a drink on her, to which she reprimanded him and the boy "became violent."
After that, the girl's boyfriend "stepped in" and the other young man punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground, where he was left "unconscious and bleeding profusely", according to the same sources.
The assaulted young man was admitted to the Molina Orosa Hospital and, after his condition worsened during the day, it was decided to transfer him by helicopter to the Doctor Negrín Hospital in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where he is admitted to the ICU.
As for the alleged attacker, he has already been arrested by the National Police and is awaiting to be brought to justice.
