The town of Uga opens the doors of its fairgrounds once again to host the San Isidro Labrador Livestock Fair, which this 2024 celebrates its fifteenth edition, already being a benchmark meeting for the primary sector in the Canary Islands due to the exhibition of the best specimens of the goat, sheep, pig, horse and camel herds of Lanzarote, which also represents a meeting point between farmers from Lanzarote and Fuerteventura to discuss common problems and debate possible solutions in the presence of representatives of the Autonomous Community when they are willing to come.

The Yaiza City Council, promoter and organizer of the fair, offers a wide and attractive program of activities for residents of the municipality and its visitors to spend three days of family enjoyment. The offer includes guided tours, cheese tasting course for children and adults, demonstration of milking and kneading of gofio, cheese making, activities and children's entertainment and musical performances, among other proposals, all detailed in the program published on the Yaiza City Council website

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, thanks in advance "the participation of farmers from Lanzarote, cheese factories, technicians and workers in the primary sector, as well as the municipal staff involved in the assembly of the fair. It is a sum of efforts and resources where all contributions are valid and complementary to offer Lanzarote a powerful fair that represents the muscle of livestock and all the industry that moves around it."

For her part, the Councilor for the Primary Sector of Yaiza, Silvia Santana, notes that "the fair helps us to get to know and value the primary sector much more closely. The winners are always willing to address the concerns of visitors and share their experiences in a relaxed atmosphere enlivened by the wide range of leisure activities."

The Uga Livestock Fair begins on Friday, April 12 at 6:00 p.m. with the streaming colloquium 'EcoLivestock', from the Uga Camel Interpretation Center, in which the following will participate: Professor Teno Osorio, the expert in organic poultry farming María Guerra Martín, the experienced in eco-livestock farming María Violeta García; the technical foreman of the Cabildo de La Palma and expert in the management of organic by-products of agricultural, livestock and forestry origin Andrés Rodríguez Batista, the organic farmer Manuel Peláez, and the eco-beekeeper Klaus Guttenberger.
