The Torrelavega society continues to celebrate its 75th anniversary. This Friday it hosted the presentation of the show "ETNO" by accordionist Miguel Afonso, and the Nativity Scene that Carlos and Francis, two experts in the field, prepare every year under the direction of Lali Valiente, was also inaugurated.

Afonso presented his show "ETNO", a journey through the ancient music of the Canary Islands. He was accompanied by an excellent band of musicians such as Víctor Batista - Cuatro Portorriqueño and Voice, Isabel Padrón-Voice, Gonzalo Macías-Spanish Guitar, Ivanoff Rodríguez-Electric Bass and Oriel Ray-Percussion. They made a tour of the music back and forth with Canarian roots and also the arrival in the Canary Islands of other latitudes by the Canarian emigrants who returned bringing those rhythms and melodies that over time have been integrated forming part of the Canarian culture.

Miguel Afonso with his accordion and his entire band made an extensive tour with instrumental songs that were played in ballroom dances and others also sung by Isabel Padrón and Víctor Batista, which were highly applauded by the public, who were very enthusiastic and eager to party, insisted that they continue playing.

Musician who has created his own style

Miguel Afonso is one of the most established and projected popular musicians in the Archipelago. He has created his own style, marking a personal path that has led him to become one of the most prolific Canarian musicians today. He began a long journey through the world of traditional music, conducting research on the musical tradition of the islands and dedicating these last years to the study of the accordion as an instrument of great impact in the Canary Islands.
