The residents of the municipality of Tinajo honored the Patron Saint San Roque on the big day of the festivities, participating in the celebration of the Holy Mass and subsequent procession.

The mass was presided over by the parish priest of San Antonio Abad in Tamaraceite and Nuestra Señora del Camino de Fátima in Lomo de Los Frailes de Gran Canaria, Víctor Domínguez, assisted by the parish priest of Tinajo, Francisco José García, and other fellow priests.

After the Eucharist, the procession with the image of San Roque proceeded, making a tour of the main streets of the town with the accompaniment of the Banda de Música Peña de San Roque de Tinajo, directed by Professor Orlando Morales.

The municipal authorities, presided over by the mayor of the municipality, Jesús Machín, and by the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, also shared such a special day with the residents of Tinajo.

Upon the arrival of San Roque to the square that bears his name, he was received by the members of the Timbayba Folk Group, who presented him with traditional Canarian music and songs, choosing among others folías, seguidillas, isas and malagueñas.

The performance was greatly applauded by all those present, and after the offering, the image of San Roque returned to the church, where it was dismissed with cheers and applause.
