With an impeccable staging and premiering new attire, the 25 members of the El Pavón group jumped this Saturday to the Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez wrestling arena with the stands packed with the public. The group is directed in the musical part by Professor Mel Reyes and for such a special occasion had 4 professional musicians, the Luzardo brothers David and Javier on percussion and saxophone, Cielo Guzmán on the transverse flute and Orlando Morales on the trumpet.
With the first chords of the isa 'Sal y Brisa', the 'XXVI El Pavón Festival' began. For this edition, it featured the majorero timple player Althay Páez, recognized as a virtuoso of the instrument, both for his technical capabilities and for his language and the emotion he transmits in each of his interpretations, such as the one carried out tonight in Tías. Althay Páez has taken his music to different countries such as Morocco, Mali, Germany, France, Switzerland, Holland, Norway or the United States, among others. Páez made the audience vibrate with his performance, which was rewarded with resounding applause.
El Pavón chose a select and varied musical repertoire playing different styles of traditional and popular music including sounds from the other side of the Atlantic such as Argentina, Peru or Venezuela completing them with their most representative dances carried out by an Argentine couple dressed in the representative clothing of the countries of origin.
The traditional Canarian song was also very present with airs of folías, isa and malagueña with their corresponding dances carried out by four couples of expert connoisseurs who gave their best on the dance floor. The island of La Palma was represented by the soloist Andrea Rodríguez, a powerful voice with registers that allow her to interpret any musical genre. Andrea moved around the stage with elegance and professionalism giving voice to the Canarian and popular song, an performance that the public rewarded with their applause.
In addition, the group invited the young lanzaroteño Elieser Betancort who since childhood participates in television contest programs and currently participates as a guest in many of the festivals in Lanzarote and other islands. Elieser despite his young age has an impressive voice that does not resist any genre, be it traditional Canarian as bolero or ranchera.
When the festival had the minutes counted for the farewell 'El Pavón' discovered the surprise of the night announcing the performance of none other than the neighbor recently awarded in the 'Arco Iris Awards' as best actor 'Raúl Maró' and formed a musical duo with Andrea Rodríguez with whom he performed the song 'Hoy', composed by Gian Marcos for the singer Gloria Estefan.
