The Teguise music band, "Teguiband", offered the traditional Christmas concert last Sunday at the Santo Domingo convent.

The 34 musicians offered an eclectic concert, performing renowned soloists and giving special prominence to two of their members, who decided to step forward facing the rest from the position of soloist.

In this way, the band was given the responsibility of accompanying works from different eras and styles, traveling through time with the sole protagonism of music. The concert was directed by Professor Ayoze Rodríguez, to whom the councilors of the Teguise City Council, Nori Machín and Olivia Duque, presented a commemorative plaque.

The event began with the interpretation of "Guardians of the Galaxy", a work of rhythmic and sound variety of the Marvel heroes and that sounded as an overture.

In the soloists section, the first one performed was "Bahhira", a work composed by the Valencian composer, pianist and band director Ferrer Ferran. The work for Alto Sax and Band was performed by the musician Richard Lorenzo and pays tribute to that guardian angel who guides us throughout our lives.

The second work performed was "Concertante Duo for two trumpets and Band", composed by Francisco Antonio Norberto Dos Santos Pinto, a Portuguese violinist and composer, and was performed by Marc Malesys and Zaira Callero.

But, without a doubt, the most exciting work and that raised the most expectation was the one performed by Joel, a young and promising clarinetist. North American of Jewish origin, the young musician dedicated his interpretation to his father, recently deceased and who was his greatest support and great collaborator of Teguiband. For its part, the public dedicated the greatest of applause.

The concert came to an end with a mythical piece of the baroque repertoire. The work was performed by the musicians, Miguel Cejudo and Tito González, the duo for two trumpets by Antonio Vivaldi and executed with piccolo trumpet.

The public applauded each of the works that sounded in the concert. At the end of it, the public stood up and asked them to continue. The request was quickly answered with the interpretation of two encores with Christmas airs "At Christmas", by the Lanzarote composer Rosana, and "El Burrito Sabanero", by the Venezuelan Hugo Blanco.
