The Vice-Ministry of Culture and Cultural Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands launches a new digital resource that will allow virtual guided tours of the museums of the Canary Network. A tool aimed primarily at educational centers that will be able to take a tour of the museum spaces accompanied by a guide with whom they can interact to clarify any doubts or expand information.
The pandemic situation we have faced since the beginning of 2020 has led to ways of rethinking the connection between heritage and the general public, opening the way for new experiences that go beyond the traditional framework. From this context, within the relationship of education, dissemination and heritage, understood both in direct relation with educational centers as well as with families, groups, associations and groups seeking experiences, this tool is created that will make it possible to get to know our museums without traveling.
Simple, safe and easy
In this platform, developed by Teika 361º, each museum will have a username and password for access, where they can manage guided tours with their own calendar. The tool combines the power of the virtual visit, with the enriched experience of a visit by an expert guide in a simple, easy and safe way: Those interested, after making an appointment, receive the link to the visit, enter their name, accept the permissions and can now enjoy the tour.
It should be remembered that this year, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage digitized in 3D twenty museums belonging to the Network, to make virtual visits through their websites. This application has served as a basis for implementing the new tool that the Government is once again making available to these spaces and educational centers in the Canary Islands, in the context of the 'Enseñas Patrimonio' program. It is about "working with tools that can improve the digital experience, since they currently constitute a favorable territory to address the possibilities that these instruments offer in the dissemination of cultural heritage, by generating other horizontal or interactive learning structures, or, structures oriented to explore complexity, empathy, dialogue, creativity and inclusion", explains the general director, Nona Perera
The dissemination of the Cultural Heritage of the islands is the main axis around which the different actions programmed by 'EnSeñas Patrimonio' revolve, from the basis that knowledge is an essential variable that favors respect, protection and, ultimately, the conservation of our legacy and has a direct impact on the social, cultural and economic sphere.
