Benjamín Prado (Madrid, 1961) was in charge of giving face and voice to literature in front of "more than 120 people" who gathered at the Islote de Fermina on June 22 around the third session of the Lanzarote Literature Festival organized by the Tourist Centers.

Interviewed by Carlos Battaglini, Prado reviewed his life and how all the great celebrities he "has had the luck to meet, especially Rafael Alberti" have influenced his work. He assured that "luck and chance" have been decisive in becoming the artist he is today.

Cortázar, Grandes or Sabina were other names that resonated most with an audience totally devoted to the fun and curious stories that the writer wanted to share.

He was categorical in showing his rejection of how we treat literature today, "only to entertain", adding that "we live the lowest degree of knowledge, which is to be informed." "Everyone wants to be informed of everything, but how many people delve into something?", he questioned.

After reviewing some of his most important works, Prado ended by declaring himself a "poet by vocation and novelist by request".

The 1st Lanzarote Literature Festival reaches its midpoint

In addition, the first edition of the Lanzarote Literature Festival has already reached its midpoint with Benjamín Prado. Aixa de la Cruz was in charge of raising the curtain and in May it was the turn of the always enriching Marta Sanz.

The writer Sabina Urraca will be the guest of the next FDLL talk, which will take place on September 14. In October it will be the turn of Andrés Neuman, and in November, the journalist and writer Jesús Marchamalo, will close the first edition of the Lanzarote Literature Festival.
