María Pagés pays tribute to José Saramago with "Temptations of Blimunda", a show that will take place in the Auditorium of Jameos del Agua on Sunday, July 10, at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at 25 euros and can be purchased through Ecoentradas. The duration of the show, suitable for all audiences, is 70 minutes.

Accompanied by two female voices, a guitar, a cello, a violin and percussion, María Pagés develops in this flamenco choreography to the core the harmonious coexistence of creative contemplation and the rhythm of the body, which seeks absolute desire and dances to the sound of music touched by the grace of sublime cadences of poetry.

Co-directors María Pagés and El Arbi El Harti narrate in this work the spiritual and existential concerns of a woman whose life is marked by desire as an ethical vocation. Her maturity gives her the distance and courage necessary to reveal herself as a woman who is neither surprised nor frightened by her unsustainable and paradoxical humanity.

"Temptations of Blimunda" explores the dialectic underlying Saramaguian literature and dance, where Blimunda, a fundamental character in "Memorial del Convento", invites a dialogue on human nature, feminine wisdom and popular knowledge. The dancer and choreographer María Pagés has been awarded the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts 2022.

"Temptations of Blimunda" is a work built around dramaturgical scenes that are very powerful in their choreographic and musical conception. Intra-history and word, rhythm, song and melody, zapateado and percussion, delicate voices and philosophical reflection interact in it.

This work is part of the program of commemorative events for the Centenary of José Saramago, Nobel Prize for Literature and Adoptive Son of Lanzarote. Organized by: Canary Islands Institute of Cultural Development, Government of the Canary Islands, Cabildo de Lanzarote, José Saramago Foundation and Tías City Council. Collaborates Centers of Art, Culture and Tourism.
