The Romería de Los Dolores, celebrated this Saturday, September 14, was once again a resounding success, bringing together thousands of pilgrims and devotees who gathered in Mancha Blanca to pay tribute to Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores, patron saint of the island and also known as the Virgin of the Volcanoes. The day stood out for its organization, the massive influx of walkers and the great welcome from the people of Tinajo.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through its president, Oswaldo Betancort, expressed its sincere gratitude to the people of Tinajo and the City Council for the warm welcome and their invaluable collaboration in the organization of this event. "The Romería de Los Dolores not only connects us with our roots, but also allows us to strengthen the bond between our peoples. The hospitality and spirit of Tinajo have been key to the success of this festivity," said Betancort.

Likewise, the president of the Cabildo wanted to express his "deepest gratitude to all the security forces, as well as the volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the Romería de Los Dolores has taken place in an atmosphere of tranquility and respect." "Their work has been fundamental in coordinating the flow of thousands of pilgrims and visitors, ensuring the safety of all attendees during this day so special for our island," he added.

For his part, the Minister of Culture, Jesús Machín Tavío, highlighted the importance of keeping this tradition alive. "The Romería de Los Dolores is a manifestation of our cultural identity and our devotion, and thanks to the joint effort of the institutions and the people of Lanzarote, we have managed to ensure that this event continues to be a benchmark for all of the Canary Islands," he said.

Offering and Romero Dance

After the pilgrimage, the traditional offering to the Virgen de Los Dolores was celebrated, which commemorates the miracle of 1736, when the lava from a volcanic eruption stopped before the presence of the image of Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores.

The entrance to the Plaza de Mancha Blanca was marked by the emotion and devotion of all attendees, consolidating once again the pilgrimage as one of the most significant in the entire Canary archipelago.

The Romero Dance brought the night to a close with music and joy. Local and other island parrandas, such as Guantesive, Son del Norte and El Golpito de Lanzarote, together with El Callao de Fuerteventura and Pa'lante de Gran Canaria, enlivened the celebration with their characteristic folklore, keeping alive the essence of this tradition.
