La Parranda Marinera Los Buches closed its cycle of performances for the year 2017 in the Plaza de San Roque in Tinajo. The performance took place on Saturday afternoon as part of the Christmas Island circuit organized by the Culture Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote,
Under the musical direction of Javier Bravo, the Los Buches band performed its most popular songs with a seafaring flavor such as Querida Lola, La Batea del Gofio, Chiquilla Mía as well as other traditional ones. In this performance, being in the middle of the Christmas festivities, they also included some carols with lyrics that were rescued from personal files of some sailors who gladly gave them to the band. They are authentic relics that must be preserved. The public gathered in the square witnessed some of the new songs that have been incorporated into the traditional ones, which were recorded in 1993.
The members of Los Buches are "very excited to make their own museum a reality next year 2018" at their headquarters, on Calle Princesa Ico N2, Argana Baja. There will be historical documents, photos and very old utensils related to the life of sailors which have been donated so that they are not lost over the years and so that new generations can learn about part of the seafaring history of Lanzarote.
La Parranda Marinera Los Buches was the town crier of the Arrecife carnival in 2003, distinguished with the Cachorro de Honor in 2013 by the Order of the Canarian Cachorro and in 2015 received the Silver Volcano, the highest award granted by the popular music group Acatife.
