Footballer Óscar Vladimir Ramos Afonso, ‘Haría Award 2024’

The award ceremony will take place during the San Juan festivities, on June 23, at 9:00 p.m., in the town square.

The City Council Plenary has awarded the Haría 2024 Award to footballer Óscar Vladimir Ramos Afonso for his contribution to the municipality's sport and for his extraordinary versatility as a player and coach.

The award ceremony will be on Sunday, June 23, at 9:00 p.m., in the Plaza de Haría, coinciding with the celebration of the San Juan festivities. The event will feature performances by timple player Domingo Rodríguez, guitarist Adrián Niz, and soloists Manuel Estupiñán and Fabiola Hernández.

The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, has highlighted the strong connection that the award winner has with the town's football. "Since he was a child, Óscar Vladimir Ramos Afonso has dazzled the public with his special talent on the field, becoming a benchmark for this sport inside and outside the island," he said.

Óscar Vladimir Ramos Afonso, a native of Gran Canaria, moved with his family to Haría when he was five years old. It was then that he joined the Haría Club de Fútbol - Rincón de Aganada, demonstrating his incredible skill with the ball. Throughout his sports career, he has been part of teams such as Unión Deportiva Lanzarote, Club Deportivo Orientación Marítima, San Bartolomé Club de Fútbol, UD. Levante B, Unión Deportiva Vecindario, Unión Sur Yaiza, and Puertollano Club de Fútbol, among others.

Ramos Afonso closed his football career in the team of his childhood: Haría Club de Fútbol - Rincón de Aganada. After ending his career, he became part of the Club's technical team as a coach. Since 2023, he has been retired from the sports field.

Due to his connection with the municipality's sport, he has been chosen to receive the Haría 2024 Award, being an example of perseverance and dedication for future generations.
