The comparsa Los Cumbacheros officially presented their fantasy for Carnival 2026 this Saturday night, titled “Trópico”, a creation by designer Borja Abreu, at a gala held in the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé, which was completely full and was attended by numerous carnival groups, invited groups, political and institutional representatives, as well as a broad representation of the Carnival.
The event began with the emotional farewell to "Aqua," the fantasy with which the troupe participated in Carnival 2025, symbolically closing one chapter to make way for a new artistic proposal full of hope and expectations.
The gala was hosted by Carmen Nieves Pérez, who welcomed the audience and introduced the night's various performances. On stage, the Murga Las Enraladas and the Murga Afilarmónica Los Simplones performed, singing their opening and closing songs, contributing to the festive spirit and murguera tradition of the event.
The artist Vanessa Artiles, who came from Gran Canaria, offered a show that combined music and humor, earning applause and laughter from the audience and adding dynamism to the gala.
The carnival pulse continued with the performance of the comparsa's percussion, which highlighted the group's work and energy, as well as revealing their new musical proposal for Carnival 2026
Recognition for Manuel Camejo
The gala also included a particularly emotional moment with the presentation of the “Mascarita de Plata” Award from the Los Cumbacheros troupe to Manuel Camejo, Carnival designer, in recognition of his career and over 40 years of contribution to the festival. After the screening of a commemorative video, distinctions and acknowledgments were presented to the invited groups and the public institutions present.
As a final flourish, "Trópico" was officially presented, the fantasy with which Los Cumbacheros will face the 2026 Carnival, a proposal that promises a powerful staging, color, and exoticism, the result of Borja Abreu's creative talent, whose design reflects his artistic vision, his capacity for innovation, and his commitment to the comparsa.
The organization wished to express special thanks for the collaboration of public institutions, private companies, sponsors, supporters, and like-minded individuals, as well as the audience that filled the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé. Special recognition was given to the indispensable work of the seamstresses and the human team working behind the scenes, whose dedication and effort make every fantasy come to life.Similarly, the commitment, dedication, and hours of work of all the members of Los Cumbacheros were highlighted, who for months have worked intensely to bring to fruition, one more year, a fantasy of this caliber
