The César Manrique Foundation (FCM) will host next Thursday, November 7, at 7:00 p.m., in the José Saramago room of La Plazuela (Arrecife), the conference entitled "The evolution of Spanish women in the years of democracy", given by Cristina Almeida. This activity is part of the program for the centenary of the birth of the artist that the institution that bears his name will celebrate until April 24, 2020.

According to the FCM, Almeida will focus on analyzing the evolution of the role of women in our country from a feminist perspective, assessing achievements and pointing out pending challenges. The gender perspective will serve the speaker to analyze the social and legal reality of women in our country.

Cristina Almeida's intervention is included in the cycle of master lectures "Thinking about the limits of our time", in which Fernando Savater, Eudald Carbonell (Prince of Asturias Award), Sonia Fernández-Vidal and Eduardo Martínez de Pisón have already participated. The philosopher Marina Garcés will participate soon.

Reflecting on the physical and social changes of the planet

The forum "Thinking about the limits of our time" is made up of six interdisciplinary conferences aimed at reflecting on the physical and social changes that the planet is undergoing and on the progressive awareness of the existence of biophysical limits that demand a new paradigm of relationship with the world and between people.

The speakers participating in this forum think about the present from various disciplinary angles and from reflective anchors that combine the retrospective view of the human being and the community with the analysis of current dynamics and, in some cases, the prospect of the future. The contributions they share with the audience are presented from different fields of knowledge such as philosophy, anthropology, architecture, human geography, ethics, quantum physics and law.
