The C.R.D. Torrelavega Society presented the program Canto a la Navidad last Thursday, a classic of these holidays. The event took place at 8:00 p.m. with a full house and began with the welcome greeting from the vice president of the Society, Luis González.

The act began with the inauguration of the Nativity Scene, a masterpiece by a great enthusiast. No one like her to recreate one of the scenes from the biblical passages of the birth of Jesus. Lali Valiente is the woman in charge of shaping the sketch, created with the help of Carlos Hernández and other anonymous collaborators, always willing to follow the guidelines of its creator. Valiente was also in charge of lighting the Nativity Scene, before the attentive gaze of the public, who rewarded the work done with their applause.

Next, Lali and her collaborators were presented with a commemorative plaque and a bouquet of flowers, which were presented by the directors and the president himself, Toñin Ramos.

Immediately afterwards, the Arrecife Choirs and Dances Folklore Group enlivened the second part of the event with a magnificent concert. In it they sang carols with Canarian roots such as Lo Divino, Pastores a Belén, Alegría a Alegría or Navidad, which were interspersed with the maritime airs with habanera rhythms such as La Bella Lola, Salió de Jamaica, La Cantera Nueva. They also reproduced Popurrí, in homage to Los amigos de Portonao.

Directed by Santiago Torres, the women and men of Coros y Danzas Arrecife conquered the public with their dedication and good work, where instruments and voices went hand in hand and were highly regarded by the public who did not stop applauding each of the songs that were playing during the concert.

Finally, with the public standing, they presented them with a lively encore, putting the finishing touch to this first event of Canto a la Navidad. The next event will take place next Wednesday, December 13, at 8:00 p.m. with the performance of the Rancho de Pascua Archinech de Tinajo.
