Christmas has officially arrived in Arrecife with the inauguration of the municipal Nativity Scene; an event that marks the beginning of the capital's Christmas program, which will extend until January 5.

The event, one of the most anticipated proposals of these holidays, was attended by the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, the deputy mayor and councilor of Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, the parish priest of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, and several councilors from the different areas of Government.

This spectacular monumental Nativity Scene, located in the José Ramírez Cerdña Park, is designed by Juan José Torres (Tejure) and Pedro Villalba, has an area of 300 square meters and has an innovative and symbolic character, which connects with the essence of Lanzarote.

Its design represents an island that can be fully explored, with elements that evoke the north, windward, beaches, black sand, stones and the sea. Although it does not reproduce specific places, it invites visitors to recognize themselves in its narrative, allowing each person to build their own story when exploring it.

One of the main novelties of this year is the incorporation of the concept of the river that separates La Graciosa from Lanzarote. This detail has influenced the arrangement of the elements, highlighting a denser area in the representation of the sea, in contrast to last year's design, which focused on a single island divided into north and south.

A wide variety of materials have been used for its construction, such as wood, porex, polyester, clay, sand and paints. Among its elements are more than 800 clay figures, as well as houses, boats, volcanoes, palm trees and trees, which represent nods to the primary sector and traditional Canarian values.

The Nativity Scene includes a special lighting and sound installation that transforms the experience depending on the time of day. During the night, the light and sound effects create an immersive atmosphere, while the daylight highlights the architectural and scenic details, offering a unique experience for both children and adults.

The Nativity Scene will be open to the public until January 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Monday to Sunday, with special hours on December 24 and 31, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Santa Claus' House, a magical novelty

On the other hand, the Music Kiosk has been magically transformed into Santa Claus' House; a new space that joins the Arrecife Christmas, located a few meters from the municipal Nativity Scene, and which is specially designed so that the little ones can experience the emotion of these days up close.

In fact, many of them have already been able to have their first meeting with Santa Claus this afternoon. Now, after the opening day, it will be ready to receive visitors from December 13 to 24, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

From the Arrecife City Council, the mayor and the deputy mayor invite all citizens to visit the Nativity Scene and enjoy the Christmas proposals that, one more year, will fill the capital with magic, tradition and emotion.
