The San Bartolomé Theater will host the play 'The Great Depression' on May 22, in which Antonia San Juan and Nuria Roca share the stage.

The play will be performed in two sessions, at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., and tickets, for 17 euros, can be purchased at www.ecoentradas.com.

This play, directed by Félix Sabroso, tells the story of Manuela (Antonia San Juan) and Marta (Nuria Roca), two mature women who, after living a long and close friendship, life and perhaps knowing each other too well, ended up separating them.

"Their personalities are evidently antagonistic: Manuela has been a woman who invested her youth studying and laying the foundations for her own independence, although her sentimental life has been a disaster and in fact she is still alone, while Marta, attractive and with less intellectual capacity but great vital talent, has always known how to find men with power who would support her and has enjoyed a more comfortable and easy existence," it is detailed.

"Manuela now holds an important union position that defends the rights of women in Spanish prisons and is essential for others and bad for herself, while Marta, who has dedicated herself more to herself, after a life of sentimental achievements and a good standard of living, faces maturity also alone," it adds.

The function is set "in the reunion of these two eternal friends-enemies, just when Marta, after her fifth marital failure, tries to commit suicide. Manuela, always on the front line, comes as always to the rescue of her inexhaustible old friend."

The two women, together after years of separation, will review "their lives, their failures and their solitudes, showing their fears, their vital wisdom and their contradictions: everything that differentiates them abysmally but that paradoxically has led them to similar circumstances", in a play that includes humor and some musical numbers.

Pedro Pastor Concert

Before that, the San Bartolomé Theater will host this Friday, May 7, at 8:00 p.m., a concert by Pedro Pastor.

Pedro Pastor is "author's music, it is travel, path and miscegenation", highlights the City Council, which points out that his lyrics show "rebellion, love, change and learning". In him, cumbia coexists with funk, rap with champeta, African music with Latin American folklore, without losing the essence of the author's song.

As indicated, Pedro Pastor has been filling venues, festivals and theaters throughout Spain and Latin America for years, becoming "a clear reference of the new Spanish-speaking song". He is backed by an intense career with more than 500 concerts in a total of 17 different countries.

On this occasion, Pedro Pastor will be accompanied by Álvaro Navarro on guitar, Cuban tres, flute, percussion and backing vocals, in a "deep and simple" live show that will go "from dancing to crying, from laughter to reflection". Tickets for his concert, at a price of 15 euros, can also be purchased at www.ecoentradas.com.

TéCanela Performance

Music will once again be present at the San Bartolomé Theater on June 5 by TéCanela, the duo of singer-songwriters composed of Jano Fernández (guitar and voice) and Ariadna Rubio (voice and flute).

Their music is based "on the mixture of styles and rhythms, with lyrics full of optimism, humor and good vibes, without neglecting social criticism".

TéCanela

In mid-2015, living in Barcelona, this duo entered the cover contest of the Cruïlla Festival, in which they were finalists. After these first steps, they began to play in different venues in the city and in Santander and Zaragoza, their places of origin. In February 2016, they parked their professional activity to embark on a journey of almost five months touring Uruguay, northern Argentina and Bolivia through music.

In December 2017, they released their first album, "Las Dos Caras Del Hilo", thanks to a crowdfunding campaign in which more than 400 people collaborated, managing to exceed the set goal "in a day and a half" and raising "twice as much as expected". The release of the album was preceded by the video clip of their single, "Ratón del Alcantarilla", which "exceeded 5,000 views in just 24 hours". In turn and in less than a month, "La rumba del tartamudo" reached number 2 on the playlist "The 50 most viral in Spain" on Spotify, reaching audience peaks of "up to 7,000 daily streams".

Currently, the video clip of "Ratón de alcantarilla" has been selected for the 1st edition of the Neox Discover contest of Atresmedia.

In the month of April, TéCanela released a new album and will tour the entire country including Lanzarote. Their performance in San Bartolomé will take place at 8:00 p.m. and tickets, at a price of 15 euros, can be purchased at www.ecoentradas.com and tecanela.com.

According to the City Council, in all events the capacity will be limited and the use of masks will be mandatory.
