Raúl Díaz, accused of the violent death of his wife, Romina Celeste Núñez, was released from prison this Friday after four years had passed since he entered prison without the trial being held. Díaz left the Tahíche prison at around 09:45 this Friday wearing a mask and an anorak accompanied by a relative who picked him up by car.
The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas ordered his release without bail this Thursday, imposing on the accused that he must appear weekly in court every Monday in court, hand over his passport and reside in Spain. The release is justified by the end of the maximum time allowed by law for maintaining provisional detention, the regime in which Díaz was (two years plus another two of extension).
Díaz is accused of killing and dismembering his wife in the early hours of New Year's Day 2019 in the home they shared in the El Palmeral Residential, in the tourist town of Costa Teguise.
