The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has ratified the measures imposed by the Juvenile Court on a young man, considering him the perpetrator of a crime of coercion and mistreatment in the family environment, and of resisting law enforcement officers, after assaulting his mother and a Civil Guard officer.

Therefore, a sentence of fourteen months of therapeutic psychiatric, psychological, and substance abuse rehabilitation confinement was imposed on him at the Valle Tabares Center.

During the first nine-month period, the young man will remain in a closed regime and then for another five months on probation, all of the above supplemented by a family intervention program.

The measure was taken after, on November 28, 2024, inside the home, the young man, who was then 17 years old, argued with his mother because she would not let him leave the house "in the state he was in."

Then he grabbed her arm forcefully to pull her away from the door, while threatening to destroy her home.

Therefore, the woman called her brother, which led to the minor becoming more violent and starting to punch his mother to the point of needing to be treated at a health center.

The Civil Guard appeared at the home where the young man insisted on going outside, so he hit the door when he couldn't get out, so he was transferred to police facilities where he spat and tried to attack the officer in charge of his custody.

This type of altered behavior continued in the cells, banging against the door, insistently ringing the bell, shouting, and placing a mattress in front of the cell door, ignoring the civil guards.

Therefore, it was agreed as a precautionary measure to intern him in the Valle Tabares center in a semi-open regime for six months, but due to his history of assaulting authority, the measure was extended to fourteen months, with the obligation to remain on probation afterward.
