The Sixth Section of the Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try on next Wednesday, June 18 in Gran Canaria, a defendant accused of using his freight transport company to transfer cocaine and hashish between the Canary Islands and the peninsula.

According to the Prosecutor's Office's indictment, in September 2023, J.V.C.F. allegedly sent through his company Transportes Castero SL two pallets loaded with 690,700 grams of cannabis resin, known as hashish.

Drug transport between Lanzarote and Gran Canaria

The pallets were allegedly collected in Lanzarote by C.J.C.M., now deceased, and by E.H.R., who is wanted. According to the fiscal document, the pallets were delivered to a logistics company to be transferred to Gran Canaria, where C.J.C.M. and E.H.R were allegedly waiting again to collect them and transport them to another place on the island.

This narcotic substance was transferred to a place where the defendant A.S.C. was. In total, the value of the seized drug amounted to 1.4 million euros

Within the framework of this operation, the Prosecutor's Office accuses J.V.C.F. of allegedly delivering on September 14, 2023 at the headquarters of the logistics company in Gran Canaria two kilos of cocaine and one of MDMA and of sending one of his employees the following day to send another package with five kilos of cocaine through the same company. This time, both packages were sent to the headquarters of the logistics company in Arrecife. On this occasion, the shipments were supervised deliveries by Police officers.

The first package sent to Lanzarote was collected the following day by the defendant M.Y.D.S, who had a criminal record at the time of the events. However, although the second package was withdrawn by the National Police Force, the defendant D.R.D.P tried to withdraw it days later. The Prosecutor's Office accuses both of them of having the intention of selling those drugs, which would amount to 300,000 euros in the illicit market.

According to the accusation, in an operation of supervised delivery by the police, the owner of the Transportes Castero company, J.V.C.F., would have collected the drug in Gran Canaria with one of his trucks and would have delivered it to the defendant E.F.C. The cocaine that was in those drums was worth around 1.6 million euros.

The Management of the logistics company from which the shipments were made and received was required by the National Police to "control the goods that several clients, as well as the entity of Transporte Castero, carried out between islands and which were suspected of transporting illegal substances".

Said company states that "with total secrecy, prudence and secrecy" they followed "the strict instructions of the Police, to the letter and with the maximum collaboration." In this way, in the operation they were "police collaborators" and "not participants".
