The Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote ended the Prevention Campaigns of the 2022/23 school year with the organization of several workshops at the CEIP Virgen de los Volcanes in Tinajo. Sixth grade students from the Tinajo center received several trainings focused on CPR, as part of the "Learn to Save a Life" Campaign; on choking, within the framework of the "SOS Breathe" Campaign, and on the exhibition of resources from the different professions dedicated to security and emergencies, with the participation of Consortium Firefighters, and collaboration from the Red Cross, Tinajo Local Police, Tinajo Civil Protection, and the Emerlan Canine Unit.
The event was attended by the acting president of the Consortium, Marcos Bergaz, the manager, Enrique Espinosa, and the Park Chief, Domingo Crespo, as well as the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín. Bergaz highlighted the participation and cooperation of the educational centers and students during the different campaigns carried out in schools throughout the Island - more than 6000 boys and girls - as well as the importance of continuing to promote vital knowledge such as this among the youngest.
Preventive campaigns
The preventive campaigns in primary and secondary schools began in September and will last until June 23. The "Know the 112 Campaign" has been aimed at infant students and has been given in most of the island's schools.
This campaign raises awareness of the role of all the emergency services that go with their resources to the center so that children can better understand their profession (health personnel, local police, civil protection, canine unit and firefighters). The preventive choking campaign "SOS Breathe" is aimed at primary and secondary school students, teachers and dining room staff.
The "Preventive Campaign With your hands you can save a life" is aimed at primary, secondary and teachers students. The workshops were taught by Benjamín Nieves, with the collaboration of students from PFAE Playas Seguras III Tías.
