The announced strike in the transport sector in Germany for this Monday, "will paralyze mobility in almost the entire country", confirmed the president of the German association of travel agencies DRV, Norbert Fiebig, to the tourist news portal Hosteltur.
The spokesman for the employers' association has suggested that the labor conflict could especially affect Spain as the main recipient country of German tourism during Easter, and in particular the Canary Islands and the Balearic Islands, which account for most of the reservations.
Consequently, Fiebig has stated that "travel agencies and tour operators will be massively affected, as they will have to deal with reservation changes and, if necessary, cancellations" on days that are especially intense for their work. And the German airport association ADV has already announced that some 380,000 passengers will be affected.
The president of DRV recalled that "the travel industry is on a very good recovery course after the massive economic losses caused by the coronavirus." And, in that sense, he remarked that "people want to travel again, also and especially during Easter." Furthermore, "reservation figures are good," he stressed.
