The motion presented by the Popular Party for Lanzarote to be the headquarters of the European Tourism Agency has been assumed by all political forces as an institutional declaration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote this Monday.
The popular spokesperson and former Tourism Councilor of the Cabildo, Ángel Vázquez, has expressed his satisfaction with the consensus that exists around this issue, although he points out that he has missed "a more diligent management of the new PSOE-Podemos government".
"It has not reacted until the Popular Party announced the presentation of its motion at the end of June. Even so, we are glad that the government has finally become aware of the great opportunity that it would represent for our island to host this new European international organization," Vázquez acknowledges during his speech.
The former councilor has highlighted the attributes of Lanzarote, assuring that the island "can compete with solvency as a clear and distinctive international benchmark for sustainable development".
"Lanzarote has attributes that they do not have, that do not exist in the rest of the islands, and facing the exterior, outside of Spain, the tourist model of reference is undoubtedly that of Lanzarote and those are advantages that the island has to take advantage of in order to host the headquarters of the agency," Ángel Vázquez stressed.
