The Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort in Costa Teguise received the award for the best hotel facility for athletes in Spain at the World Travel Awards gala, considered in the sector as the "Oscars of tourism", which was held last weekend.
The hotel in Costa Teguise was also nominated in the same category at the European level, along with the La Santa club in Tinajo, although the award ultimately went to the Cascade Wellness Resort, in the Portuguese Algarve.
Located on Ancla beach, the Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort reopened its doors this year after the "renovation of its facilities with an innovative concept that combines sport, leisure and gastronomy".
Following its agreement with LES MILLS, Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort became the first hotel in Spain to offer a 360° training program from the international fitness firm.
Among other facilities, the hotel establishment has a 50-meter heated Olympic swimming pool, a high-performance gym, a professional cycling center, as well as direct access to the beach for open water swimming or other water sports such as windsurfing or kitesurfing.
A few months ago, the hotel was already awarded as 'Best Active Resort in Spain' by Men's Health magazine.
