Canary Islands hotels are registering a strong uptick in reservations and prices in recent days, following the collapse of tourism in Egypt as a result of the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and Hamas due to terrorist attacks from Gaza.

According to the tourism news portal Preferente.com, the increase in reservations in the Canary Islands is greater in establishments of more affordable category, where competition with destinations in the Middle East is more intense.

The Canary Islands thus reinforces its character as a refuge destination for Europeans in winter, which could also extend to the Balearic Islands and the peninsular coast from spring if the climate of confrontation in Israel does not moderate in the future.

Turkey may also be affected by a horizon of war between its neighboring countries, with a background of uncertainty due to the geopolitical imbalances that have been occurring since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, with China and the United States as indirect protagonists through their allies Saudi Arabia and Iran.
