So far this year, 561,397 people have arrived at the César Manrique airport from national airports, not counting inter-island arrivals.
With this figure, provided by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) based on data from AENA, national tourism in Lanzarote exceeds for the first time since records exist half a million arrivals in just ten months.
In the recent history of the island, only in 2019 was half a million arrivals exceeded, but it was in the total calculation of the year.
National tourism was very close to reaching half a million annual arrivals in recent decades until it finally achieved it in 2019 when, at the end of the year, 535,944 people had arrived from Spanish airports to the Lanzarote airport. This year, between January and October, the national arrivals of all of 2019 have already been exceeded.
The loyalty of national tourism to Lanzarote was evident when, despite the numerous restrictions, in 2020, 241,273 passengers arrived from other airports in the country. Also in 2021 when 345,860 travelers arrived.
Only from the airports of the United Kingdom did more people arrive until October. There were more than one million British. After national tourism, in number of arrivals, is Ireland, with 231,577 people arriving on the island by air between January and October.
