Lanzarote's hotels took in 64 million euros last September, 13.6% more than the same month last year, when their income amounted to 56.3 million, according to data provided by the Lanzarote Data Center based on the latest Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
And they did it with fewer tourists. If in September 2023, hotel establishments registered 168,244 tourists, last September there were 164,080.
In addition, the hotel staff last September had a thousand more people hired than last year. If in September 2023 the number of workers in hotels amounted to 8,966, at the end of this September there were 9,969 people.
The daily rate in hotels was 128.56 euros, 9.5% more than what it cost the same month last year when it amounted to 117.31 euros.
The occupancy in hotels increased more than three points compared to last year and reached 89.83% this September, while overnight stays remained around one and a half million.
The number of places offered also did not experience major changes. This year there were 43,457 compared to the 42,718 that were offered in September 2023.
